Hi friends,
It's raining cats and dogs here at Mumbai. It rains only for few months, but pleasure it brings along with it is inexplicable. Hills near my home all get covered with greenery. And ah what a beauty...!!
Well, though, undoubtedly rainy is the most awaited as well as appreciated season, it brings in with it all it's friend diseases and contamination too. so that It's obvious for the biggest organ of our body to be prone for the attack of diseases and infections during this period, which is none other than "SKIN".
Skin is biggest organ of our body and this is a scientific fact. But what makes me feel more affectionate for skin is, it's the delicate part yet it protects all internal organs. To top this all it does this in disguise of endowing us good looks, so isn't it our duty to take care of this real "Caretaker"?
Skincare is more of an adorable daily routine rather than duty for most of us. After all who wishes to be looking pale and dumb? But, skincare in rainy need to give it's extra weightage apart from what we do generally in summers and winters. This is because the atmosphere is more moist as compared to general, this increases the probability of fungal infections which sometimes are very difficult to identify. Also breach to any part over skin invites the diseases of inner system, like gastrointestinal infections, leptospirosis etc. Intention is to make you aware of how important it is to take special care of the skin than usually we do.
Let's have a closer look at how can we give a special care to each and every body part in this season.
While advising on this topic to ease the discussion let's divide the portions of body to take care of as below.
a. Scalp
b. Facial Skin
c. Neck
d. Chest region and abdomen
e. Waist and Genitals
f. Leg portion
g. Hands and Fingers
h. Feet and Toes
I'll be providing an advise for each and every body part individually in this and forthcoming posts regularly starting with Scalp today.
a. Scalp
Hair are an important part of the body as it covers the delicate scalp and protects it. But nothing can be more embarrassing than untidy scalp with problems like itching, dandruff, oiliness etc. Dealing with this is even tedious in rainy.
To relieve from the tension of all this let me tell you the fact that hair care has got nothing to do with actually taking care of hair and it has got most to do with rather all to do with taking care of scalp. As properly looking after scalp automatically rejuvenates and adds to health and look of hair.
Increased moisture in the air makes you hair moist that attracts dust and dirt and even turn sometimes oily. Situation turns worst if your scalp's tendency is to get oily soon. So first thing in monsoon to remember is say goodbye to oiling in daytime. You can apply oil in night and wash it off next morning or couple of hours before going to bath. But keep this in a mind that don't use hard bars or shampoos to clean this. Use some mild shampoos or even baby shampoo(oily scalp is an exception) for washing. This would avoid your scalp from getting dry and will maintain the ph balance of scalp.
Next battle we have to do with dandruff. Dandruff even though is common in all seasons we need be equipped with special weapons to fight with dandruff in rainy. Cleaning is the only way which would help in dandruff. But apart from this pack of neem powder and camphor with lukewarm water putting this onto your scalp till it dries would also give the desired result.
Post bath please clean your scalp and dry hair properly. Ladies please don't leave your hair free for it to get dry naturally at lease in rainy. This takes a lot of time as moisture content is already increased.Secondly, if hair are kept wet for a long time and you're already suffering from some scalp issues, it may worsen.
I personally don't recommend hair dryers for drying purposes, but in emergency it's fine to use it with precautions.
For gents with long hair if you can manage the hygiene and take proper care of your hair then it's fine, otherwise please keep your hair short to the manageable length. People with over sweating tendencies please use an antibacterial shampoo prescribed by medical practitioners and use it regularly.
Last but not the least each and every part of the body is equally important and precious so are hair. Therefore taking care of a while assures and ensures long run endurance of it. Take care and let me know if you face any issues.
